FAQs
Built by us. Explained by us.
Production & local manufacturing
-
The muli is manufactured entirely in Germany. From the smallest bent tube to the last weld seam. From powder coating to final assembly. For us, it is of central importance not only to produce a sustainable means of transportation, but also to make the production itself as sustainable, social and fair as possible.
-
Sure, that’s possible. Simply select the option "Pick up yourself – pick up on site in Cologne" in the check-out under shipping
Ordering & delivery
-
Yes, the muli can be returned to us within 14 days of delivery without giving reasons. The muli must be in new, unused condition. You bear the costs of the return shipment. Please contact us beforehand so that an allocation can take place.
-
If your deposited bank account has not been verified in your PayPal account, there may be a sending limit for your account. Typically, the price for a muli is above this limit. Further information on PayPal’s sending limits and how you can view and deactivate them can be found at the following link: https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Tipps-von-den-Moderatoren/Limits/td-p/1024970?profile.language=de. The child seat was designed for transporting two children and is suitable from around one year of age. This corresponds approximately to the age at which children can sit upright independently – this is the prerequisite for using the child seat.
For all younger children and babies, we offer an infant car seat adapter for basket installation.
It is more difficult to determine up to what age the seat is suitable. Weight and height are the main factors here.
The child seat is approved for a total weight of 40 kg.
The seat belts are approved for 22 kg per belt set.
Seat height under the handlebars: 63cm
Seat height under the rain cover:
in the direction of travel: 55cm
against the direction of travel: ~80cm
-
The muli is available in a frame size which, in combination with the height-adjustable handlebars, is suitable for riders between 1.50m–1.55m and 1.95m–2.00m. We always recommend a test ride for tall and relatively short riders. There is no general answer to this question.
-
Can I transport a muli on a bike carrier mounted to my car?
In principle, this is possible, provided the bike carrier used is designed for the weight, wheelbase and mounting requirements of a muli. Whether a specific system is suitable always depends on the respective carrier model and the manufacturer’s specifications.
For a reliable assessment, we recommend checking the technical data of your carrier directly with the manufacturer. What does a muli weigh for transport on a bike carrier?
Weight is crucial when choosing a suitable bike carrier. For the muli Motor st, the following guideline values apply:
Total weight approx. 34 kg
Without battery approx. 31 to 32 kg
Without battery and without front wheel under 30 kg
Please note: The decisive factors are always the permitted load capacity of the carrier and the specifications of the vehicle manufacturer.
Do I need to remove the battery or front wheel for transport?
This is not mandatory, but it can be useful. Many users remove the battery and sometimes also the front wheel to reduce weight and make handling easier.
Whether this is necessary in your case depends on the load capacity permitted by your bike carrier and how comfortably the bike can be mounted.
When removing the front wheel, the brake pads should be blocked with a pad blocker or a suitable spacer. This prevents them from shifting or falling out.Which bike carriers have proven to work with the muli?
We do not maintain an official approval list. However, there are carrier systems that have already been successfully used by customers, including:
Thule 936 E-Bike Carrier
Thule VeloSpace XT
Bosal Comfort Pro
Paulchen systems with suitable rails
These references do not replace a technical verification. What matters are always the manufacturer’s specifications regarding load capacity, wheelbase and mounting options.
How does the muli sit on the bike carrier?
Depending on the carrier model, the muli is often positioned so that the down tube rests on the rails. In many cases, this allows the bike to be fixed securely.
It is important that the bike stands without tension and that no components are subjected to pressure or twisting forces.Which type of rails are particularly suitable?
Based on experience, carriers with straight rails often work most straightforwardly, as they offer more space for the frame and steering linkage.
However, systems with recesses or split rails can also be suitable – the decisive factor is whether the muli can be mounted securely and without contact points. Can I transport the muli on a rear door-mounted carrier?
Transport on rear door-mounted carriers is generally possible, but it strongly depends on the specific system. We are aware of cases where, for example, original VW rear carriers were used. In such setups, the muli is usually positioned on the rear rail, and alternative holding arms or extended straps are sometimes used.
Whether this is permitted with your carrier should always be checked against the manufacturer’s specifications. What should I definitely check before transport?
Before transporting your bike, you should in particular check:
Maximum load capacity of the bike carrier
Permitted nose weight of the tow bar
Wheelbase approval of the carrier
Secure fixation of all mounting points
Full visibility of license plate and lighting
These points are decisive for safety and compliance and should always be evaluated based on the specifications provided by the carrier and vehicle manufacturers.
Is there an official recommendation or guarantee from muli-cycles for specific bike carriers?
No. As vehicle types, carrier models and individual setups vary considerably, muli-cycles cannot provide binding approvals or guarantees for specific bike carriers.
We can only share practical experience. The final assessment of whether a carrier is suitable and compliant lies with the respective manufacturer and the user’s individual application. If you like, you can still send us photos or technical details of your carrier – we will then provide an experience-based assessment at info@muli-cycles.de
-
No, the colors are strictly separated between the models.
Our factory store in Cologne is an exception. Here you can configure your muli for collection in the color of your choice.
-
The muli muscle has no locks as standard. However, you can configure the frame lock as an accessory. Please send your request to info@muli-cycles.de
-
If you already have a muli, you can have the dog flap retrofitted by us in Cologne or directly by a muli dealer near you.
If you are planning to order a new muli, you can add the dog flap directly from the factory in the configurator.
-
No, if you want an e-muli with belt drive, then the muli Motor st pro is the right model for you.
-
No, we do not make a recommendation.
The important thing is that it is a carrier-mounted seat. As a rule, child seats with universal mounts also fit our carrier.
If you are unsure, you are welcome to test it in our Factory Store or at one of our partner dealers.

The range is heavily dependent on the support level of the motor, the payload and the general route profile. With our muli Motor st and st pro, the range is usually between forty and one hundred kilometers.
With the muli Motor eu, you can cover around thirty to seventy kilometers on a full battery charge.
-
In winter, temperatures can drop significantly, which has a negative impact on the performance of batteries. Colder temperatures cause the chemical reactions in the battery to take place more slowly. This can lead to reduced capacity and shorter runtimes.
To optimize the performance of your battery in winter, we recommend storing it as warm as possible and, if necessary, warming it up before use.
-
Yes, the muli accessories have been developed in such a way that even the folded basket offers enough space for a child seat and rain cover, for example. A rucksack also fits easily into the closed basket.
-
The basket does not have an extra lock as standard.
However, you have the option of configuring our basket lock as an accessory.
This is used for quick, short-term load securing if there are two or more stops on the way home.

Officially, cargo bikes are not allowed on public transport as they take up too much space due to their excessive length and fixed load structure. With the basket folded down, the muli is about the same size as a normal bike and can therefore also be transported on the train.
Safety & use
-
No, this is a widespread misconception. Smaller tires theoretically even have an advantage in terms of acceleration, as they have less rotating mass and therefore reach speed faster.
The following applies to top speed: smaller tires do not automatically make you ride slower and you do not have to pedal harder, provided the gear ratio is adjusted accordingly. With the muli, this is compensated for by a chainring with 50 teeth.

In the event of a necessary repair, you should first contact your muli dealer. If you purchased your muli directly from us, please contact our technical support team (quality@muli-cycles.de) before repairing the damage.
This is the only way we have the opportunity to assess possible damage and manage the complaint process. As a rule, we can provide spare parts at a reasonable price or have suitable tips to keep the repair simple.
The frame number, name and fault description should always be referred to as information.
Good to know: apart from the frame, steering linkage and basket, the muli is fitted with standard components that can be repaired in any bicycle workshop.
